Union buildings
Grand majestic and inspiring are adjectives that have all been used to describe
the Union Buildings. Symbolizing the unity of the country's former four provinces,
the buildings have also served as the seat of government since Pretoria became
South Africa's administrative capital in 1910. The formal terraced gardens
are open to the public. With their manicured lawns and jewel-bright flowerbeds,
they are a spectacular sight in springtime and are probably the most photographed
location in the whole of Pretoria.
