Kruger house
This old Church Street house, now a museum, was home to President Paul Kruger
for 17 years, and it has not changed much since the days when the irascible
leader of the South African Republic dared to challange the might of the British
Empire. The old vierkleur flag still flutters in front of the building, and
inside are many original pieces of furniture and smaller personal items that
belonged to President Kruger and his wife.
Also of great historical interest is the museum's exstensive collection of
tributes - including documents, medals, ornaments and furniture. These items
where presented to President Kruger and his countrymen during the Anglo Boer
War by people and countries who were fairly sympathetic to the Boer cause.
