Fort Klapperkop
Pretoria was the administrative capital during the Anglo-Boer war, and today
the visible legacy of the war can be seen in the monuments and sited throughout
the city. Fort Klapperkop, Fort Schantskop, Fort Wonderboom Poort
and Fort Daspoortrand were occupied by the British soldiers after the British
invaded Pretoria under the command of Lord Roberts in June 1900.
The Fort Klapperkop Heritage site is the property of the City Council of Pretoria
since 1994. It is open to the public and is being restored to its original
state and usages.
