Botanical gardens

These gardens are situated about 8 km from the city centre and accomodate both subtropical and temperate plants, giving the visito a glimpse of the beautiful and varied flora of the subcontinent.
 
The Botanical Gardens contain 500 of South Africa's 1000 indigenous tree species and about 800 indigenous flowering plants, as well as cycads, aloes and other striking collections. Paved nature trails give access to the fascinating natural vegetation of the rocky ridge above the gardens.
